Rose and Herb Posy

When I find myself inundated with roses and my herbs are growing faster than I can cook with, I love to make posies. Not only are the colors beautiful, but the scent is divine. Placed in a sunny window, these sweet little nosegays will fill a room with a luscious floral/herbal aroma, making it an eco-friendly air freshener. For this arrangement, I used my sweet little yellow roses, tarragon, rosemary, lavender mint, and lavender sage. Many of these herbs are also natural bug repellents, which come in handy during the muggy, bug infested summers of Florida.

Such a fun word, as is nosegay. Nosegay, nosegay, nosgay. The arrangement smelled so sweet it made my nose feel so gay. Yes, I am a dork! :-)

Thanks Mel, it did smell really nice. The rosemary kept making me hungry though!

Great idea Amy and it looks wonderful too. Makes me want to get my herb garden started that I keep procastinating about. Even for Jacksonville it's been terribly humid and it just takes your energy away.

Nosegay is a wonderful word, a word I don't think anyone, ANYONE, who is under the age of 75 uses anymore. I am delighted to be reminded of such a sweet and innocent term. I wonder if boys still give girls corsages or nosegays for prom? Is there old-fashioned romance these days? Oh, the word nosegay has made me wonder...
